ARQUEROS SELKNAM (Selknam Archers)

ARQUEROS SELKNAM (Selknam Archers)

The Inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego at the southern end of Chile and Argentina , were nomadic and excellent hunters. They lived in small groups of no more than 25 people. It is believed that they settled before the formation of the Strait of Magellan, when Tierra del Fuego was still attached to the continent. They mostly hunted the guanaco using archery. The arrival of foreigners and an agrarian economy with the introduction of sheep farming produced a great conflict and very quickly in a period of 20 years this ethnicity was exterminated.
